Many people confuse lawyers and paralegals, but we are different. Both paralegals and lawyers practice law, prepare legal documents, and work on legal cases. Although both help you with your legal case, the main difference is that lawyers are able to represent you with your case and paralegals cannot. Lawyers represent you and address the judge in the courtroom and help you win your case. Paralegals do not give legal advice or represent clients in legal proceedings. A lot of people call paralegals a lawyer's assistant because paralegals help lawyers prepare for trials by investigating case facts, scheduling hearings, drafting documents, interacting with clients, and writing reports. But paralegals can also help you with any legal paperwork.
